The 16th annual Summer Meltdown Festival has unveiled a tempting initial lineup that places this music, camping and adventure festival on a level with the best of the northwest. After a wildly successful first year proving guided excursions from the festival grounds, river rafting, horseback riding, and rock climbing companies will return to Summer Meltdown. These local businesses are welcomed back by a community with a sense of adventure.

And, adventure isn’t the only thing in store for Summer Meltdown fans; the ways to get involved with the festival are expanding. Applications for workshops, art installations, joining the lineup through a battle of the bands, vending, volunteering, and street teaming have been posted.

Tickets and all opportunities to participate at Summer Meltdown can be found on the festival website at SummerMeltdownFest.com.

Summer Meltdown’s initial lineup for 2016 continues the tradition of curating an eclectic mix of spirited electronic, funk, acoustic, and rock acts. Fresh off of a guided adventure or the rope swing down by the river, everyone will have the opportunity to dance to headlining performances by the likes of GRiZGramaticSTS9Beats AntiqueKeys N KratesBlue ScholarsRising AppalachiaTrevor Hall, and many more, enhanced by beautiful and sweeping views of Whitehorse Mountain.

The festival, held August 11-14 in Darrington, WA, also continues to highlight rising PNW artists, such as Shook Twins (Portland), Polecat (Bellingham), Rabbit Wilde (Mount Vernon), Ayron Jones and The Way (Seattle), Flowmotion (Seattle), and Acorn Project (Bellingham). Additional regional acts interested in joining the lineup are invited to participate in the 2nd annual Meltdown Showdown – a battle of the bands-style contest celebrating the vast musical talents of the PNW. More information on the Showdown is available at SummerMeltdownFest.com/showdown/.

Meltdown tickets include 4 days and nights of onsite camping under pines or in mountain-view meadows, as well as unlimited access to all performances. Ticket additions for RVs and Vehicle Camping are also available. Meltdown is a child-friendly event, featuring a crafty Kids Village and discounted event tickets for the youngest among us. Adult passes are currently $195 and Youth passes (ages 9-15) are $75. Children eight years and under attend free.

Located only 90 minutes from Seattle and Bellingham, the Summer Meltdown festival is an annual tradition for thousands of music lovers and adventure seekers in the PNW. In its 16th year, the festival celebrates the summer, the spirit of adventure, the wilds of Washington, the magic of music underneath Whitehorse Mountain, and the refreshing goodness of a thriving community. With a vendor village for food and crafts, expansive shaded campgrounds, a river for swimming and sun basking, a yoga tent to warm up your dancing muscles, a beer garden, kids’ village, workshops, regional art, and the biggest Meltdown invites all to join us where the music meets the mountain!
