Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured artist is The Gemini.

About the band:

Conceived In December of 2017 by Jeff Rouse as a way to put thoughts and feeling to music that truly represented a place and time of his life.
As weeks and more songs came along, as did the need to put these out into the world. The Gemini EP is filled with stories of lost love, betrayal, regret and a lot of relief.

Although The Gemini is Rouse’s brainchild and he played and recorded most of the EP by himself, he leans on a good amount of his music friends for additional contributions. Names like Barrett Martin, Ryan Waters, Chris Walla, Keith Ash, Shawn Zellar, Don Gunn, Gary Westlake, Kathy Moore and Jen Ayers grace this release as well and with a lineup like that, it’s not hard to figure out why it sounds so damn good. Although probably better known for being a hard rocker because of his work with Duff McKagan’s Loaded, Buckcherry and many others, Rouse reveals a different side of himself on this offering. The EP covers a lot of ground, from furiously paced post-punk, a hint of the dark elements of industrial, a liberal amount of new wave, all while keeping it fresh and relevant for today’s ears. No matter what genre tag someone tries to stick on The Gemini though, one thing that shines throughout is the superior musicianship. The EP is in the “must listen” category and you can do that HERE.
