Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our sixth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’ll be showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about. For the fourth year in a row, the showcase is once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene on there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured act is 322.

About the artist:

322 is a genre-bending group from the Greater Seattle area. Originally founded by up and coming Saxophonist Brandon Lee Cierley; the band now includes drummer Joel Bozich, bassist Sean Murphy, guitarist Anand Landon and rounding out the group Marcel Augustin. The name of the group is inspired by the rehearsal room that brought the group together at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. The shared vision of the group was to create a sound that transcends the boundaries of traditional jazz by drawing from modern influences in different genres.

The Pacific Northwest has allowed 322’s vision to come to fruition as the band has played at some of the Northwest’s well known venues including The Royal Room, Barboza, Triple Door Musicquarium, Tula’s Restaurant and Jazz Club, Northwest Folklife and featured for multiple appearances on 88.5 KNKX Live Studio Sessions. Currently, the band is performing at venues across the Seattle-Tacoma area.

The band’s first album “Emergence” was recorded at Pacific Lutheran University and released in September 2017. The sophomore self-titled album “322” was recorded in Seattle’s historic Studio Litho and released November 2018.

As today’s featured band’s bio explains above, this northwest jazz outfit is one that is on the rise. If you find yourself in a position where you need more jazz in your life, check out this ensemble of talented players and they’ll have what you are looking for. Whether it’s meandering free-form jams or locked down smooth jazz rhythms that flow directly from the music player straight into your soul, they’ve got you covered. Check out their music below and if you are a fan of anything carrying the jazz label, you are definitely going to dig these guys.
