75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 61: The Spider Ferns

Spider Ferns CDLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for day 61 is a Skagit County band called The Spider Ferns.

The Spider Ferns are an Electronic Trip-Rock Duo  and if you are as yet unfamiliar with them, one glance at their bio will transport you into their magically unique experience. Says the band:  “We make music late at night in a converted barn at the base of a small mountain.”

Part urban expatriates, part urban dwellers… the Spider Ferns (husband and wife duo Alton and Kelly Fleek) occupy their city residence at week’s end, keeping a firm foothold in the vibrant Seattle arts and music community that fuels and supports them. During the week they retreat to their rural Skagit County sanctuary, a converted barn on six acres surrounded by pastoral views and endless forests from their perch in the Cascade foothills.
