75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 60: Strangely Alright

Strangely AlrightLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. We had to take a few days off to give some attention to the 2014 NorthWest Music Scene Reader’s Poll, so we are playing catch up. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for day 60 is a Tacoma band called Strangely Alright.

Regan Lane’s 80’s pop star experience, Ken Schaff”s driving hard rock influences, Preston Darvill’s late 90’s heavy hitting grunge love affair, Ray Hayden’s keyboard crush on all things prog rock and Sean Van Dommelen’s crunchy white boy blues, all collide together creating SA’s unique raw, energetic, power pop sound deep seated with emotion. Lane’s charismatic presence and ability to get asses out of their seats and the underlying lyrical message of hope, empathy, and love rightly live up to the title of the band’s upcoming album, FOREVER IS RIGHT NOW, a tireless and persistent group of catchy, edgy rock songs that are sugar coated with the band’s natural love of all things pop!

In our review of The Time Machine Is Broken we said, “Call it power pop, soft rock or what ever other label you’d like to call it, Strangely Alright will leave you in better shape than you were before you listened to them. This band has a total retro feel and one gets the sense they would have fit in very nicely in an another time and place, if they didn’t fit in so damn well here!”
