50 Bands in 50 Days – Day 40: Global Heat

50-50-FEATURED

We’re in the home stretch of 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re saying goodbye to 2015 with a countdown of 50 great Pacific Northwest bands. This daily showcase is presented by GigTown. Today, for our 40th entry in this series, we’d like to turn you onto a band with a pretty eclectic style, Seattle’s Global Heat.

Global Heat - JustinFree

Bringing neo-soul & hip-hop together with urban street dance, Global Heat features international MC/b-boy/DJs Justin Murta and Professor Icee (aka Jairus Green). With collaborating dancers from Dog Pound and the world-champion break dance crew Massive Monkees, Global Heat has brought the new sound of Seattle around the world, from the Shanghai International Music Festival, to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show, to some of the Northwest’s biggest festivals and concert theatres. Global Heat won the 2011 Jammin’ Challenge produced by Seattle Wave Radio and Hard Rock Cafe, and has received awards from Seattle Next50, 4Culture, and Theatre Puget Sound.

As an MC, b-boy, and DJ, Justin Murta has toured around the world with Global Heat and as a solo artist. Justin has worked with Usher and Chris Brown, and has shared the stage with the likes of Cee Lo Green, Macklemore, Method Man, Crash Test Dummies, Blake Lewis, members of Wu-Tang Clan, Living Legends, KRS 1, Lady Leishurr, and others.  Global Heat is currently working on a new album with producer Richard Garcia (Professionals Music Group) whose credits include Destiny’s Child and Snoop Dogg.

Fans of cutting-edge hip-hop with an emphasis on live instrumentation must check out Global Heat.
