Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured artist is Pillow Junky.

Bio:

Seattle, Washington’s Pillow Junky acutely blends indie and shoegaze rock by combining soothing soundscapes with melodic songwriting. The band formed in early 2018 when guitarist Elias Hampton and bassist Noah Gilman joined forces with singer/songwriter Chris Kouldukis and drummer Chris Trimis. Their debut EP, Putting You to Bed, connects to the listener through heartfelt lyrics, narrating the universal themes of love, loyalty and regret. The warmth of Chris Kouldukis’ vocals are supported by beautifully intertwining guitar melodies over a slow, soothing rhythm section. The EP was tracked live in a garage attic, giving it a DIY aesthetic reminiscent of groups such as Duster, Pedro the Lion and Red House Painters.

If you are on the hunt for another talented northwest indie outfit, we’d encourage you to check out today’s featured act. Although they’ve only been together for less than a year they show a great deal of promise. It’s great music to put on for a relaxing Pacific Northwest evening with the fireplace cranked up and four legged creature coiled up at your feet. Check out the new release on Spotify HERE or click the player below. We already added Pillow Junky to our growing list of bands to keep an eye on in 2019 and you should too.
