Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our sixth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’ll be showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about. For the fourth year in a row, the showcase is once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene on there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured act is Peyote Ugly.

About the artist:

Peyote Ugly is a synth-psych band born out of Seattle in 2015. With a name like Peyote Ugly, there’s no shortage of imagery that comes to mind, and the trio lives up to the hype of their moniker. Their music feels like a rare, cool breeze waving through the barren desert. Not really “ugly”, but you can feel notes of spacey peyote in the mix.

Peyote Ugly has released two EPs (Peyote Ugly EP and Jackdaw) and have plans to release a debut full length in 2020. This year has been their most exciting yet, recently completing a west coast tour and dropping a music video for a new single, “Myopia” (directed by Kyle Todaro, recorded at Electrokitty Recording Studio).

Easily one of the most tongue in cheek band names in Seattle but as their bio states above they aren’t ugly, in fact the music this talented outfit puts out is quite the opposite. “Myopia” has a lot to offer fans all across the wide spectrum of indie rock, with a spacey vocal vibe and top notch instrumentation throughout. The frenetic pace builds for the entire length of the song before ending with blazing guitar work and we’re gonna place this track high on the list of submissions we’ve received this year.

Check out the song below and we’re sure you are going to love this band.
