Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our sixth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’ll be showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about. For the fourth year in a row, the showcase is once again presented by Verity Credit Union. Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene on there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured act is Bug Hunter.

About the artist:

Today’s featured artist is probably the most unique of the submissions we’ve received so far and not necessarily because of the instrumentation but because of the lyrics that flow out of Bug Hunter. Usually tongue in cheek but always with some type of message, as in “Dear McCracken” which finds the writer sneaking a peek at someone writing an email to an ex-lover. It’s basically the play by play of a good old Dear John letter but in a hilarious way. You just aren’t going to find too many artists these days that have a way with words like Bug Hunter does. As the bio states below they’ve made a splash on Spotify with millions of listens and there’s no reason to believe that won’t continue. Give them a listen below and get ready to become a fan of this quirky but fun as hell northwest artist.

John Wozniak of Marcy Playground says Bug Hunter is “Relentlessly Clever… AWESOME”

Focused on turning mundane moments into emotion-packed tunes, Seattle-Based Bug Hunter’s style is often compared to 21 Pilots, Blink-182, and Death Cab For Cutie – but they have carved out a niche that fans can’t easily classify. Recently celebrating 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Bug Hunter shows no sign of stopping with their lyric pop indie rock.
