Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured band is Emily Donohue.

About the band:

Emily Donohue tells a different story at each milestone in her young career. The unwavering aspect is relatability. With a vocal quality that both intrigues and attracts, and a wide appeal that resists existing in a categorical vacuum, Emily’s commanding performance never leaves the listener in doubt of the intention, meaning, and artistry behind her songs. After independently releasing two EPs, she signed to Refresh Records to release her debut full-length album, Melancholia, in June 2018.

We’ve been fans of today’s featured artist for at least a few years now. Although when we first got on board, Donohue didn’t have a ton of material out there,  there was just something about her that convinced us she had what it takes to get to the next level.  With the release of Melancholia she fully demonstrates that she’s ready for the biggest stages in the world. Upbeat and danceable tempos, combined with meaningful lyrics and of course her powerful voice catapults this release to the list of top releases in the northwest this year. Check out Melancholia HERE and we’re pretty convinced you’ll agree.
