Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fourth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, presented by Verity Credit Union. Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag at Twitter on the daily to stay on top of all the bands featured and make sure to follow Verity on Twitter and NW_Music_Scene as well. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the sun yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured band is called Fuzz Mutt out of Everett.

Fuzz Mutt is a garage rock band based out of Everett, WA that was started in 2016 by high school friends Max Stephens (Guitar/Vocals), Sean Groda (Bass), and Jared Hoidal (Drums). The band comes from a wide range of influences but is rooted in the PNW ideology of loud, DIY rock music. The band records all their own music in their studio/love shack “The Stoplight Room.”

Although Fuzz Mutt isn’t exactly blazing trails with their sound, they are proficient enough at their craft that the garage-rock noises that come out of this three-piece don’t feel tired and overdone. On the contrary, they have an exciting and energetic approach that is built around the sound that played such a big part in shaping rock & roll in the northwest and beyond. They are a great example that you don’t need a bunch of fancy electronics to be a kick ass rock outfit but you do need to practice – and they clearly have done that.

If you are a fan of Nirvana or the earlier garage rock era, check these guys out and you’ll likely walk away with a new northwest band to love.

(Listen to “Take” below via Bandcamp and you can get more info about Fuzz Mutt on Facebook HERE.)

Submissions for 100 Bands in 100 Days are still open to any Pacific Northwest band interested in submitting. If you would like to submit for a chance to be featured in this segment, consult this link for more information on how you can do so.
