75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 66: Windowpane

WindowpaneLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for day 66 is from Seattle and they are called Windowpane.

Windowpane‘s singer/guitarist- Glenn Cannon & bassist- Mark Harris assembled the first incarnation of “Windowpane” (named after the popular L.S.D. of the ’70s) in Cumberland, Maryland when they were attending high school, moving the band to Seattle shortly thereafter. Word of this new, extremely talented and creative power trio took a foothold in the Seattle scene rather quickly, drawing fans of hundreds into legendary clubs such as “The Central” & “The Rainbow” after only a short amount of time. The addition of Guitarist- Tony Abreu, known from his work in other popular Seattle bands, brought another creative element and a fuller, more aggressive sound to the band, as well as strengthening the group’s immediate following. Windowpane‘s popularity steadily grew to pulling over a thousand fans to their CD release party of their most recent full-length album “Daybreak,” and they have been consistently packing in crowds of that size and larger in and around Seattle since.

The band has recently completed several highly successful tours of the U.S & Canada, including tours in support of such artists as Five Finger Death Punch, Soulfly & Queensryche. The addition of the extremely talented and hard hitting drummer- Sean Morrison, in mid 2012, elevated the band’s stage performance yet again, making their up-coming release even that much more anticipated. They wrapped up 2012 with a crushing set at the White River Amphitheater in Washington as part of Rockstar Energy’s UPROAR Festival tour with headliners Godsmack, Shinedown, Staind and P.O.D.. Windowpane was also featured on the 2013 Pacific Northwest UPROAR tour dates with Alice In Chains, The Walking Papers and Jane’s Addiction and chosen to perform at The Gorge Amphitheater as part of KISW’s 2013 “Pain in the Grass,” among such artists as Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat. The band was also honored to have been asked to headline to multi-thousands at Seattle’s annual, world famous “Hempfest” that same year. Shifting all focus to the writing and completion of the next full length album, Windowpane has locked themselves in their rehearsal space for the majority of 2014, working away like mad scientist to bring their song writing craft to a new level. “We’ve learned a lot about what people REALLY respond to, out on the road… and this album will reflect that.” says bassist Mark Harris.

As 2014 comes to an end, production for the long awaited new LP is about to begin. Windowpane aims to hit the road as soon as the new album is released. “People are really responding to what we’re putting out there, in every single city we play! We can’t wait to get back out on the road with this material!” says singer/guitarist Glenn Cannon.
