75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 40: Wiscon

hottubLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for Day 40 is Wiscon a weird sounding band(that’s a compliment)out of Seattle.

This is strange band that is going to be nearly impossible to label so not even going to attempt it. We suggest you don’t either, just listen to the music. Their own bio describes them pretty well: Wiscon are what happens when an unstoppable riff meets an undeniable hook. Sweet vocals wrap themselves around stories about monster movies, zombies and nuclear annihilation. Keyboards are pushed past their natural limits and through multiple gain stages forming a startlingly beautiful sonic hellscape. Mammoth-killing drums and fuzzy, detuned bass lock in to produce an urgent, persistent groove. What would sci-fi tinged, sugar-coated melodies pouring out of an angry volcano sound like? Like the Ronnettes had a baby with Devo? There’s only one way to find out. Give them a listen and decide for yourself.
