50 Bands in 50 Days – Day 37: The Fame Riot

50-50-FEATURED

Welcome back to 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re bidding farewell to the wonderful year of 2015 with a countdown (in no particular order) of a good handful of Pacific Northwest bands that need to be heard by you. This showcase is brought to you by GigTown. Today we’d like to turn your ears onto a band that needs to be on your radar, The Fame Riot.

Quite possibly Tacoma’s most flamboyant rock and pop band, The Fame Riot are musical duo Liz Scarlett and Shazam “Tea Time” Watkins. A musical duo ridiculous and wild both in their image and musical styling, The Fame Riot takes musical cues from glam rock, synthpop, indietronica, and power pop, and delivers them in a spastic, non-self-serious fashion, a fashion that will either make your ears vomit or cause you to cream your sparkly spandex pants.

Though the band’s recorded studio material is fantastic, the group is perhaps most notable for their grandiose, larger-than-life live performances, where their infectious charisma and incredible stage presence are really put on display. One of the best live bands you can catch around these parts, The Fame Riot is a band that isn’t to be skipped out on by anybody.
