The snowy day in Seattle scared many of the fans that the show would be cancelled but sure enough, Tove Lo took it to Twitter to confirm that the first night of the Lady Wood Tour was happening. By the end of the evening the snow was already melting in most of the city and the fans gathered to fill the Showbox SoDo.

The night began with rising star Phoebe Ryan, who we’ve followed for a while as she keeps climbing in the pop world. Her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, “All We Know,” exposed her to the mainstream world and she continues to accumulate fans all over the world. She seems like a great fit as an opener on Tove’s tour as their energy and powerful stage presence match perfectly.

She jumped onstage all smiles wearing an oversized hoodie, which read “Death Before Dishonor,” a baseball cap, pajama pants, and black combat boots. The weather delayed her flight which caused her to lose her luggage leaving her with nothing to change into. That didn’t seem to be a problem though, as she rocked the look confidently throughout her set paired with her signature green hair.

She continuously engaged with the audience as they cheered her on and shared how cool Tove Lo really is. “Tove is a very cool girl, really, the first time I met her I had a whole bunch of jello shots in my pockets and I offered her one and she said, okay, cool.” Seems like the jello shots went a long way since then and now they are sharing the stage together. The singer/songwriter sang her hits “We Won’t,” “Mine,” “Ignition,” as well as her new release “Dark Side” which ended her set, that was received enthusiastically.

The stage was covered with a white curtain which added a mystic feel before Tove Lo took the floor, as we all wondered what would happen. The Swedish pop star appeared through the shadows and as the curtain dropped she exploded with “True Disaster.” She continuously made eye contact with her fans enchanting everyone with her raw sexual energy and her engaging presence.

Tove was wearing custom made pants that read “Lady Wood” on the back along with a knotted t-shirt and red Adidas. The backdrop displayed the metal vagina logo, which is used for her second record art as well as one of her new arm tattoos. The set was charged by catchy pop tunes and by “Talking Body,” which found Tove carelessly flashing the fans, leaving them even more in love with the night.

She brought it down before playing “Imaginary Friends,” explaining that even though it has been only three years since she rose to the mainstream as an artist, there were a lot of years before that where she was all alone. Tove found success first as a songwriter working with producers Max Martin, and Xenomania, before releasing her first record Queen of the Clouds.

The main set finished with her lead single “Cool Girl,” that vitalized the Showbox and turned the place into a dance floor. She returned for her encore with “What I Want For the Night” and before her last song she yelled, “Ready?. This is the song that changed my life!” We all screamed in excitement as “Habits” began playing. This show had such a feel good vibe from start to finish, with great artists to watch and experience live.

Sophia Barkalakis

Music is probably the most important part of her life. Sophia is constantly searching for new material, old and new. Always looking forward to the next live show she can attend, ready to immerse herself in the sound. "There is something so magical about attending a live show that you cannot possibly feel from a recording itself that makes it worth going to", she says. She also says she's lucky to be able to combine her passion for music with her obsession of capturing moments. She finds that being able to look at a photograph and be transported to that second of your life is indescribable and she's so grateful for all those great moments.
