A founding member of the Denver-based band Paper Bird, Patterson recently announced her departure from the group to pursue her own music, stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist with the release of ‘Woman to Woman’ earlier this year.

A conceptual songwriting project, the album was written as a series of responses to popular songs about women from the perspective of the subject, giving a voice to archetypal female characters like Jolene, Eleanor Rigby, Alison and Townes Van Zandt’s “Loretta,” among others.

New York Times critic Jon Pareles noted the “self-determination and defiance” present in Patterson’s songwriting, saying that “with all the other women objectified in pop lyrics, it took restraint to stop at just seven songs.”
