Bumbershoot today announced the final schedule for its 46th annual event, taking place at the Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend, September 2nd through the 4th. With a robust schedule including over 150 musical, comedy and arts performers, interactive experiences, and the best local eats, this three-day treat for the senses promises something for everyone. Performances are scheduled to take place on more than a dozen indoor and outdoor stages spread throughout the 74-acre festival grounds, including both Memorial Stadium and KeyArena. For the first time, neighboring venue Teatro ZinZanni will also host local and national comedians.
Headlining this year’s festival is an exciting group of musical luminaries, including Seattle natives Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Death Cab for Cutie, and critically acclaimed Norwegian producer KYGO, among others (including Compton rapper YG, a more recent addition after the sudden cancellation of DJ Snake). Unlike other festivals of its size, Bumbershoot also has a long legacy of offering a wide range of diverse art and culture—from comedy and dance, to film and food, to words and ideas. NorthWest Music Scene published its own list of 15 performers you should see at this year’s event, which you can read here.
“Bumbershoot is a festival of discovery. It’s a place for families and friends to not only see their favorite acts together but also to try new things and expand their horizons,” said Chris Weber, Executive Director for One Reel. “It’s a one-stop-shop to view, listen, taste, touch, smell, and discover local, regional, and international arts and culture. Spanning the Seattle Center grounds, a campus originally created for the 1962 World’s Fair, in many ways Bumbershoot has continued that legacy of celebrating innovation and the search for what’s next.”
