Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured artist is Aline Vida.

About the band:

When you listen to the fluttering, full voice of northwest-based songwriter, Aline Vida, you understand for the first time again the sound of ripened music plucked and pressed for you in the fresh, new moment. The singer, who has traveled the world and played some of its most hallowed rooms, mixes with many sonic ingredients: from the wood-chirped acoustic to the triumphant operatic to the fantastic rock ‘n’ roll. Born in California, Vida graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. She traveled to Sweden next, to practice her craft, before heading back to the Big Apple to perform often in showrooms like B.B. King’s Blues Club in Times Square and the famed Harlem jazz club, Lenox Lounge. In 2014 she appeared on KSER near her current hometown, Seattle, WA, for a live on-air performance. In 2015 the Emmy-nominated series, Justified, featured her song, “Secrets and Lies,” in an episode. But accomplishments like these, for Vida, are pieces of the temporary. Music, however, is the realm of the timeless. And that is why she is a full participant in its magic. Lately, she’s played all over the Emerald City and has a soon to be released EP on the horizon. With a rich voice like a bow across silver cello strings, Vida can remind you of many styles, from Cher to Amy Winehouse and Etta James to Reba McEntire. Yet, with all of these options in tow, Vida’s is an original recipe.

Not that this is exactly breaking news, because it’s been true for quite a while now, but Seattle and the greater northwest is home to some powerful female voices, and any conversation that tosses around the names of some of the best in the northwest talent pool should contain Aline Vida’s name.  Whether she’s belting out soul-stirring R&B flavored vocal riffs or leaning towards the electronic side, she’s never far from her roots and she crosses over several genres flawlessly. Check out her latest release HERE and we know you’ll become a fan instantly. She’s working on some new stuff as well, so stay tuned!
