Well she did it! Tacoma’s very own war-dancing fireball has advanced to the final group of contestants on the NBC talent show “The Voice” Wednesday night.
She took down Texas bluesman Nakia to be the last one standing for Team Cee Lo (coached by Cee Lo Green). Contestants were scored using public votes and judges’ points.
Vicci has continued to show the viewing public what many of us have known around here for a long time. She has a world class set of pipes and a fiery spirit that has been unmatched on NBC’s smash hit show “The Voice”.
When the judges let her close out the show Tuesday night, it was pretty clear they have really taken a liking to her, in fact, the handwriting seems to have been on the wall for most of her appearances on the show. She has clearly done something to Cee Lo and while the others on his team were fantastic performers, they were all out-shadowed by the Stadium High School grad.
Celebrity coach/judge Adam Levine called it the “Coolest performance of the night.†Fellow coach Blake Shelton said, “It’s like somebody put gas on the stage and threw a lit match.â€
There are two shows remaining. Martinez and the other three contestants will perform live in the final round (tape-delayed for West Coast broadcast at 9 p.m.), with the ultimate winner announced the following night.
At stake for Vicci is $100,000 and a recording contract.
