Upon A Burning Body Lights up McDonald Theater crowd

On December 1st, 2014 the Eugene McDonald Theater was turned something right out of the old west.  The band Upon A Burning Body hailing from San Antonio, Texas came out of the shoot like a raging bull.  Starting off their set with a blistering version of the band’s new remix of Dj Snake’s song feat. Lil Jon ‘Turn Down for What’.   Upon A Burning Body’s version of this hip hop hit, is delightfully violent!

With a fairly rapid rise in the music business, the band was founded in 2012.  Danny Leal, the vocalist, is a powerhouse on stage.  The band describe themselves as “four poor Latino kids from Texas”.  Well, everyone knows that everything is bigger in Texas!  This band has made a credible name for itself on the metal scene.  They are currently on tour at this time with Asking Alexandria and the ‘Moving on Tour’ through December 20th.

The down side to this show is that Upon A Burning Body has a very short set.  About 5 songs were played in all Texas Blood Money, Scars, and Sin City were on the list. Due to terrible lighting, the band was mostly viewed only in silhouette.  The other bands on the tour with Asking Alexandria were The Family Ruin, Chelsea Grin, and Bless The Fall.  This was a great show, with plenty of amusing stage antics by Asking Alexandria.  If you get a chance to see this show, be prepared to laugh between your dives into the pit!

Charla Stephenson

Charla is a new addition to the Northwest Music Scene family, she has had a passion for music since she was just a small girl. At the age of five, she was rocking out to Kiss at the local pizza restaurant with her older brother. It didn't take long until she was hooked on rock music. Growing up in Southern Oregon there was not a lot to do except listen to music and hang out with friends. Now, at the age of forty-two, she is the married mother of four children. She is still rocking out and in the pit at several metal shows a year. Charla is also an Emergency Nurse with fifteen years of adrenaline filled experience in the field. Charla and her husband Geoff would like to become more involved in the music scene and possibly retire in an RV chasing festivals all over the country. Currently, she is content writing music reviews, taking pictures, and interviewing bands every chance she can get.
