SOCCER MOMMY TO PLAY BARBOZA ON APRIL 4, 2018

Soccer Mommy – twenty-year old Nashville native Sophie Allison – just released her debut album Clean via Fat Possum. Following a series of DIY Bandcamp recordings and last year’s Collection, Clean is Allison’s journey out of her bedroom and into the studio with a full band. “I’d never made a full album before, just EPs and random tracks thrown together. I wanted it to be a lot more cohesive than the rest of the stuff that came before,” explains Allison. The result is Clean – the cohesive record Allison dreamt of making, and an album that presents Soccer Mommy as a singular artist, wise beyond her years, with an emotional authenticity of her own.

“Clean is Allison’s excellent studio debut: a compact album of clear melodies, plainspoken lyrics, and the impossibly tangled logic of infatuation.” – Pitchfork (Best New Music, 8.4)

“‘Clean’ greatly expands the scope of Ms. Allison’s songs in both words and music… Both cleareyed and passionate, she is growing up in public, unabashed.” – New York Times

“A star of indie rock’s poetically plainspoken new wave (see Lucy Dacus, Jay Som, Mitski, Big Thief, etc.), Sophie Allison weaves images of bedsheets, flora, fauna and lip-locks through 10 songs, sparkling guitar melodies carrying rubbed raw emotions.” – Rolling Stone
