The Roseland Theater Went Up ‘In Flames’ on March 6th
Sweden’s melodic death metal pioneers In Flames came to burn Portland’s Roseland Theater down on March 6, 2015. Out on tour, in support of their September 2014 release ‘Siren Charms’, the band has been charring venues with their blazing hot Swedish riffs and roars. Vocalist Anders Fridén, who has been with the band since 1995, continues to impress with his energy and intensity. Band members Peter Iwers (bass), Niclas Engelin (rhythm guitar), Daniel Svensson (drums), and Björn Gelotte have all been playing together on and off since the mid 1990’s.
With the recent love being shown to In Flames by Sirius XM Octane, the band’s popular single “Paralyzed” has been burning up the airwaves. This frequent airplay has brought a flock of new fans to the In Flames family. ‘Siren Charms’ marks the bands eleventh album release to date.
In Flames with their brand of melodic death metal laid the foundation for today’s metal core musicians. Some long time fans feel that their current release is softer and not as brutal as previous albums. This has caused some negative feedback by a few fans on the bands social networking sites. However, the response to the new release has been positive the majority of the time.
The band covered many of their older, hard hitting, face melting songs during their set. The band played a perfect mixture of their old and new songs. With lots of encouragement from Fridén, fans found their way to the stage over the sea of bouncing metal heads. It was truly an epic sight to see.
Currently, the band is on their North American leg of the Charming America Tour 2015. They are accompanied by All That Remains, and WOVENWAR.
In Flames will be on tour though May throughout the USA and Canada. They will then head off for their European run, which will bring them to all the major festivals like Rock Am Ring, Hellfest, Download Festival, Grasspop, and Wacken Open Air Festival.
