Rocking, Rolling & Running…Quickie Is At It Again!

Another record set for Seattle band Quickie!

July 10th, 2011— SEATTLE, WA —  Over 1,600 runners converged on the Seattle suburb of Mill Creek on Saturday for the 26th annual “Run of the Mill” road race. But only one of them was singing and playing guitar for the entire 5k race route: meet Lou Trez, front-man for northwest pop-punk band Quickie. And at 23:19, he made good time. Quite an chievement for a runner with an acoustic guitar strapped to his chest. “No disrespect to Eddie Van Halen, but I am now the fastest singer-guitarist in the world.” Trez quips.

Trez is no stranger to this kind of stunt: last September his band, Quickie, played a world-record setting 44 shows in a single day! Billed as the “40 Quickies in One Night” tour, the exhausting stunt had the band dragging their equipment from door to door, city to city, to perform a single song at each venue. “That was a marathon, this was more of a sprint,” says Trez. “But singing, running and playing power-punk…non-stop…was definitely it’s own challenge. I trained for weeks.”

Trez says his motivation was simple: “Seattle is on the short-list of healthy U.S. cities. I’m just doing my part to prove that statistic right.” And, of course, a little publicity won’t hurt Quickie or their singer. “Dear shoe companies: I am available for endorsements!” he half-jokes. “Seattle rocks, rolls, and runs!”

Now that the race is over, will Trez return to the traditional rock’n’roll lifestyle? He shakes his head. “I run every day. You’re more likely to see me with a water bottle than a beer bottle.”
