The Posies to Play Neptune Theatre on November 16th

One of the northwest’s most consistently strong rock bands, The Posies, will be returning to Seattle for a performance at the prestigious Neptune Theatre on Wednesday, November 16th. Core members Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow will be touring in support of their eighth studio album, Solid States, dropped late in April of this year. Up until the album’s release, The Posies had had a fairly quiet decade, with only one other record released, 2010’s Blood/Candy, though Stringfellow has kept himself busy producing for long-standing California rock band Game Theory and up-and-coming Seattle singer-songwriter Spencer Carlson.

Solid States has been received warmly by fans and critics, who accepted it as a welcome return to form, albeit with a more aged, mature bent for The Posies. In our review of Solid States, we commended the album for its “more tempered pace,” which we felt “works well in highlighting the band’s gorgeous sound throughout the album.” The Posies aren’t quite the same band they were, say, 25 years ago, but they’ve used their large body of experience to shape their sound into an impressively developed one. On top of that, The Posies still know how to kill it live.

No opening or supporting acts are planned yet, but we’re sure they’ll tap a worthwhile act or two to get things started on the right foot. Definitely don’t miss out on the opportunity to see these guys live; they still bring their A-game some 30 years into their career.
