MOTHERLODE

A 10-piece funk train hailing from the beautiful north coast of California in the Redwoods of Humboldt County lays Motherlode.

Since the bands’ inception in 2012 these funky pioneers have been blazing the trail and sharing the stage with such legends as Fred Wesley, Bill Summers and DJ Logic.

The band features all three on their new album entitled “All in Good Time”. Sounding like equal parts 70’s soundtrack-funk ala James Brown and The Funky Meters. Add a dash of Fela Kuti and a bit of Daptone-like soul and you hit the Motherlode.

FUNKY 2 DEATH

What once started as the house band at the Seamonster Lounge in Seattle has evolved over the past few years into a bonafide eight piece funk and soul band – and a force to be reckoned with. With tributes to some of the greats – James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, and Chaka Khan to name a few – plus a mixture of original hard-hitting instrumentals and great vocal songs alike, Funky2Death gets the crowd moving no matter where they play. Fans young, old, and in between come together, smiling, laughing, and getting down to originals like “Boogaloo”, “Funky in My Pants”, and “Funky 45th Street”. There is never a dull moment with these talented cats.

Woogie D. aka “Dirty Uncle” holds it down on drums, vocals, and as MC. You’d be hard pressed to find a more solid player than Mark Mattrey on the bass. Jabrille Williams aka “Jimmy James” shows amazing control on rhythm guitar, but then lets loose and completely blows everyone away with his solos. Roc’Phella aka “Cousin Nasty” always gets the crowd going whether he’s on the mic or exploring other galaxies on the keys. Melissa Montalto rounds it all out on the organ, but then gets up in the front and pulls the crowd even closer with her soulful vocals. With the addition of a horn section including Jason Cressey and Peter Daniel, and Jonathan Gipaya, F2D has something for everyone.

While firmly grounded in the old school, F2D brings new life and a modern sound to their music. Just when you think you’ve figured out F2D, they’ve got a surprise for you – always keeping you on your feet, dancing all night long.
