Metal meets mariachi at El Corazon with Metalachi May 30

We’ve experienced the craziness that results when you mix reggae, Elvis Presley and Led Zeppelin together, courtesy of the mighty Dread Zeppelin.

We’ve listened to the majesty that can result from the unholy combination of Metallica and cellos, ala Apocalyptica.

We’ve even grooved on Beatallica’s Sgt. Pepper’s army meets the Metal Militia mash-up of the Beatles and Metallica.

metalachiBut honestly, nothing prepared us for  Metalachi’s blend of metal and mariachi. Sure on the surface nothing could seem more opposed than metal music and Mexican folk music. But folks, we got to tell you these guys pull it off. If the video below doesn’t convince you then you oughta swing by El Corazon this Friday for a taste of Metalachi. Tickets are $12, $15 day of show. The show is 21 and over and Stay Tuned and Jilly Rizzo open.

Shawn Skager

Shawn Skager is just an everyday joe like you, who loves music and is lucky enough to be able to write about it. When he's not enjoying long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, pina coladas and cheesy 70s music by guys named Rupert, Shawn can usually be found in the Northwest Convergence Zone radio studio doing either the Northwest Music Scene radio show or the Hooligan Honky Tonk Radio Hour. And just for the record, Shawn believes that Rush's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hank Williams Sr.'s exclusion from the Grand Ol' Opry are crimes against humanity.
