Ex’s With Benefits throws down on Friday night at The Piranha Shop gallery and event space in SODO with a release show for their much anticipated debut album ‘BAD HOTEL’. The album, produced by Phillip Peterson at Jack Endino’s Soundhouse last year and mixed by Steve Fisk, is picking up speed on college radio and has gotten props from luminaries such as Mudhoney and others. We said it might be the Seattle album of the year. Read HERE
Rooted in old school punk with a powerhouse female siren, ‘BAD HOTEL’ offers up 12 tracks in your face filled with anger, sex, caustic wit and hot headed critique of 21st century themes that continue to piss you off.
Badass frontwoman and keyboard player Dmitra Smith has this to say about the album, “I first heard punk rock when I was 10 years old. Although I love all kinds of music, I was obsessively mesmerized by its energy and DIY creativity. Pretty soon I was pretending to sing in the mirror with a hairbrush. ‘BAD HOTEL’ is the album I always wanted to make. It’s got all the good stuff: anger, satire, sex, fear, revolution. It’s meant to be played loud as hell. Grab your own hair brush and get after it!”

Joined by neo-punk electro darlings Hearts are Thugs and The Grindylow, featuring members of Blood Hag, it all goes down Friday at 7:30, in a cool old warehouse art space, where a good punk show should be. In fact, it’ll be fucking TITS.
