#BLACKLIVESMATTER BLACK FRIDAY CONCERT FEAT. OWUOR ARUNGA & FRIENDS

Seattle, WA – Africatown-Central District in partnership with Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute & Arunga Music presents Black Friday Concert & Market. The concert will feature Owuor Arunga (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Physics) as musical director joined by some of Seattle’s most talented musical talents performing a tribute to the neighborhood’s unique Black musical heritage including jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop and African diaspora flavors. The event will highlight the theme of #BlackLivesMatter and the need to support Black culture and businesses threatened with displacement by gentrification.

The event will be held at the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute on Friday November 27, 2015. The marketplace will begin at 12pm with doors for the concert opening at 6:30pm. Admission to the marketplace is FREE. Ticket prices for the concert range from $15 to $100 purchase here. Proceeds will benefit youth leadership development and arts programming.

Owuor Arunga is a world renowned trumpet player. As the Musical Director of the Grammy Award winning hip hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Owuor has sold 27 million records. He has also appeared on Billboard’s list of five biggest hip hop songs of all time. Owuor has performed on the largest stages in the world. With artists such as Madonna, Lil Jon, Jenifer Hudson, The Heavy, and Sauti Sol just to name a few. He has been featured on shows including Ellen Degeneres, Saturday Night Live, American Music Awards and many more. He is a Producer for season 2 and 3 of Coke Studio Africa.
