75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 56: Mom’s Rocket

Moms0378-609Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. We had to take a few days off to give some attention to the 2014 NorthWest Music Scene Reader’s Poll, so you are going to get a few bands today to catch up. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for day 56 is Mom’s Rocket out of Olympia.

We’ve seen Mom’s Rocket a bunch and they always bring the goods. Hailing from Olympia the guys first got together in the basement doing acoustic jams. In no time at all they escalated into full-on Rock band. Mom’s Rocket had just decided to explore recording when they got a call from long-time friend and producer John Dammeier who asked if he could produce a record… and the rocket was launched!

Mom’s Rocket blasted onto the Northwest music scene as the house-band for Seattle Sports Radio 950 KJR. In addition to the radio and web presence on KJR, Mom’s Rocket received frequent air-play on Seattle stations such as KNFK’s “Garage Monkey”, KISW’s “Loud and Local”, KISW’s “9:00 cockfight” (2-time champions), as well as performing live on the Bob River’s morning show on KZOK.

If you are a fan of foot on the throttle, face melting rock, then you will probably love Mom’s Rocket. They have a solid, loyal legend of followers that get out to see the band everytime they have the chance and for good reason, they always put on a great live show. Last years full length release “Red” is a thrill ride and you can grab a copy for yourself HERE.
