500,000 Music Lovers Can’t Be Wrong: KEXP Hits One-Half Million YouTube Subscribers

The first radio station to play Nirvana, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Vampire Weekend, M83 and the Lumineers, KEXP broadcasts commercial-free at 90.3 FM and worldwide at KEXP.ORG

KEXP launched its YouTube channel in 2006 to capture and share video of live in-studio performances. Since then KEXP has recorded and posted close to 7000 videos of new and established artists in a myriad of genres.

Icelandic band- Of Monsters and Men was first recorded by KEXP in a Reykjavik living room after being discovered by programming staff during the 2010 Iceland Airwaves festival. The sextet’s KEXP video of “Little Talks” earned more than 8 million views and lead to the group’s label deal with Republic Records and worldwide distribution.

KEXP’s top five popular uploads is stacked with chart-topping artists. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ four-song set from July 2011, -including the debut performance of smash hit “Can’t Hold Us” has registered 28 million views. Florence and the Machine’s performance of “Cosmic Love” is KEXP’s second-most watched in-studio, with 15 million views.
