Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured act is Black Plastic Clouds.

Bio:

Black Plastic Clouds is an experimental rock band from Seattle. Since 2011. BPC has played dozens of regional venues and festivals like Seattle Hempfest, First Night Tacoma, and Seattle’s Big Building Bash. In 2015, they worked with Mountainhouse Productions and released their 2nd EP, Memento, the following spring. In 2017, BPC recorded with Chartreuse Muffin Studios and released their third EP, Head Case followed by a western U.S. tour, playing 14 cities in 8 states. After their tour, the band added Ryan Eville on bass guitar and expanded on the sounds of trumpeter and keyboardist, Jasiu Pawluskiewicz. This year, the newly-refined quartet, with original members Ben Bradley (guitar, lead vocals) and James Bradley (drums, backing vocals) have teamed up with Jakael Tristram and Robert Lang Studios to begin on their upcoming EP due out in the spring of 2019. Their latest single, “Ignite” was released in August along with the first music video which premiered on Northwest Music Scene. Their next single, “Mania” is expected to be released by the end of November along with their second music video.

Earlier this year we premiered an imaginative new video from today’s featured band, Black Plastic Clouds and the catchy tune featured in the video, “Ignite,” has been among our favorites released this year. Here’s what we said about it:

Not all rock bands can successfully pull off having brass in their music but the experimental style of Black Plastic Clouds creates opportunities for just such a thing. The new song is sort of a progressive ska, if one is forced to label it. The tune has a deep, infectious groove and a hook that is irresistible. “Ignite” is expertly produced, with the bass and drums moved to the front of the mix to power the track but still giving way for the horn riffs and shouted vocals when the time is right.

As mentioned in their bio, they have some new music ready to drop soon, we’ve heard a couple of the tracks and the new stuff will be a perfect addition to their growing catalog. Check out “Ignite” below.
