Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fourth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, presented by Verity Credit Union. Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag at Twitter on the daily to stay on top of all the bands featured and make sure to follow Verity on Twitter and NW_Music_Scene as well. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the sun yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured artist is THUNDERHOUND.

Today’s band might not have a huge online catalog to choose from but even without that they’ve played a lot of great events in the three years they’ve been together and the single we’ve heard is enough to know these guys kick ass. The guitar driven “Say Hello” from Ellensburg based THUNDERHOUND was ferocious enough to be included on the smoking hot 2017 Black Locust Records compilation that featured such heavies as Clutch, Pallbearer and Red Fang. Fans of local dirt metal titans Devils Hunt Me Down will take a liking to this band with the quickness, there’s little doubt about that and Seattle rock fans are in for a treat as THUNDERHOUND will be coming through the mountains to team up with them in mid-December. (More on that show at the bottom of this article)

The band was officially formed in 2014 and released a single titled “Say Hello” that same year. Since then, THUNDERHOUND has been hitting the Pacific Northwest hard. In November of 2015, THUNDERHOUND were the Grand Marshals of Central Washington University’s Glow Parade and performed on a float through the heart of the city.  The band has rocked with guest drummer Ric Parnell, formerly of Spinal Tap (aka; Mick Shrimpton in the film).  The band has performed direct support for national acts such as Quiet Riot, Red Fang, Heroine and has rocked faces off at several music festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Check out the official video below for “Say Hello” via YouTube

The band will be playing with the aforementioned mighty Sasquatch rockers in Devils Hunt Me Down as they release the final EP in their 2017 trilogy, In Media Res: Part III on December 16 at the High Dive in Seattle. Rounding out that bill are Woodshed and Sun Mother. Click HERE for more show information.

This is one band we’ll be keeping an eye on for more releases and after listening, we’re pretty sure you will be too.

(You can listen to “Say Hello” below via Bandcamp, and get more info about THUNDERHOUND at their website HERE.)
