Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured band is Lust Punch.

Bio:

Formed in 2016, Lust Punch started as three musicians with the desire to bring heavy, grungy rock back to the forefront of the Seattle scene. With influences from Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Audioslave and Nirvana, Nick Knight’s songwriting has drawn fans from all over the state to the high-energy live shows that Lust Punch performs. The soaring vocal harmonies, ripping guitar solos and hard-hitting drum hooks are addictive and you may find yourself singing along after you head home!

Over the past year, the lineup evolved into it’s current form: Nick Knight (lead vocals & guitar), Retten Steincipher (drums, backup vocals) and Jessica Gittings (bass, backup vocals, management). This crew of hard-working and motivated individuals immediately gelled and has taken off running; playing shows and festivals all over the state, going on their first tour through eastern Washington and Idaho, and heading to play their first International show at the Woods Nightclub in Castlegar, BC, Canada on October 26th.

If you’ve been on the hunt for another northwest rock and roll outfit to rally behind and you haven’t heard of Lust Punch yet, today’s featured band is great candidate. Although heavily influenced by the grunge behemoths that came before them, they add their own distinct signatures to the music that made a lot of us fans of the genre in the first place. Deep rock grooves created by a tight-as-hell rhythm section, mixed with dark, soaring vocals gives them an addictive sound that you’re going to want to check out.
