WORLD PREMIERE: Watch The Hasslers’ New Music Video for “Loves Company”

Hasslers Promo 05

Today we’re excited to share with you a brand new music video from Seattle-via-Missoula folk rockers The Hasslers. While the ambitious and crafty sextet (consisting of Matt Hassler, Ben Haber, Joey Boyd, Erin Agner, Owen Thayer, and Steven Haber all handling everything from bass to accordion to keyboards to pedal steel guitar) has been making headway since 2012, they moved to Seattle in 2015, where they would stand out from the back thanks to their relatable and humble folk songs. Their creativity and extremely solid sophomore record, State Center, have earned them much deserved praise around these parts, including a spot in our own daily Northwest Music Month segment this past June.

“Loves Company” is among the more personal and heartbreaking cuts on State Center, and while it may not be what you would traditionally consider single-worthy because of just how direct and sad it is, it’s among the more compelling tracks The Hasslers have penned to date, and its simplistic, but moody and well-shot music video helps add more context to what’s said in the lyrics. The music video for “Loves Company” poetically tells the tragically common tale of two lovers slowly drifting apart, and the cause of which isn’t directly spelled out, mostly due to it being told entirely through visual means. It manages to cut deep without spelling everything out, and perfectly fits the somber mood of the lyrics and the deceptively upbeat instrumentation.
