The 6th Annual Columbia City Blues Festival at the Royal Room August 10-12

The Royal Room is proud to host the 6th Annual Columbia City Blues Festival. As in previous years, the festival will be taking a curatorial approach, exploring a variety of cultural and historical perspectives on the blues. This year will have a special focus on West Side Soul, celebrating Delmark Records and the legacies of Magic Sam, Junior Wells, and Buddy Guy.

Night 1 – Friday August 10

This evening will have a special focus on West Side Soul, celebrating Delmark Records and the legacies of Magic Sam, Junior Wells, and Buddy Guy. “…& The Blues” celebrates the works of musicians not traditionally described as blues artists, but who still contributed a lasting impact to blues music. This year’s “…& The Blues” features the works of Amy Winehouse (& The Blues), Charles Mingus (& The Blues) and Jack White (& The Blues).

Night 2- Saturday August 11

Duffy Bishop is a force of nature. A powerful blues blaster, a sultry soul singer, a presence who connects with her audience in a deeply personal way be it in an intimate club or huge festival. Based in Portland Oregon, Duffy is in the Cascade Blues Association and Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame, and a recipient of both organizations’ Lifetime Achievement Awards. Duffy started performing professionally in her early teens. Over the course of her four-decade career she has shared the stage with many legends including Ruth Brown, John Lee Hooker, Etta James, Gatemouth Brown, Lou Rawls, Bonnie Raitt, Shemekia Copeland, Bo Diddley and Bobby Blue Bland to name a few.

Night 3 – Sunday August 12

For four nights each spring and summer, Columbia City is the place to hear the best live music in Seattle. On the second Sunday of the month from June – September, Columbia City BeatWalk hosts a range of musicians in neighborhood businesses.
