Premiering today on the Northwest Music Scene is a new song by the German/American duo Loftän, a band who made it into our 100 Bands in 100 Days feature that we teamed up with Verity Credit Union on to bring you at the end of last year.

Julia Mahncke and Janell Riedl, aka Loftän, began their musical collaboration after a chance meeting in 2015. The two quickly bonded over their shared interest in music, and soon found their musical sensibilities perfectly complimented one another. Despite Mahncke being native to Germany, and Riedl being local to Oregon, the duo’s music has reached a crossroads that feels both natural and extremely refreshing.

Shot with the help of friends, Loftän’s music video for “Undercover Girl” interweaves the light-hearted song title with the deeper meaning of the lyrics. While the band intrudes upon the personal lives of their friends getting ready for a date, proving mathematical theorems or partying in the front yard, the lyrics tell the story of a girl hiding behind her self-imposed mask.

Loftän has a live stream music video party on Sunday, Feb 26th, 10:30 a.m. PST. For more details visit the Facebook event HERE.

(You can find Loftän on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and SoundCloud, and keep up with the band through their official website, thebandloftan.com.)
