Portland’s Banana Stand and Double Dragon team up for Secret Summer Series

Banana Stand is proud to curate a free, weekly summer series at Double Dragon, featuring select, secret guests performing at the critically-acclaimed restaurant and bar. Usually closed on Mondays, Double Dragon will open at 6pm to host the special event and offer a limited menu of late night favorites along with low-priced craft cocktails.

Discerning music collectors can show off their deep catalog by bringing in their own vinyl to be played along side others before each night’s act. (Don’t worry, records will stored safely so everyone can enjoy the show.) Casual, yet limited, the summer series will be the perfect way to spend Monday sunsets next to fellow fans.

Though the series’ guests won’t be revealed, June 2nd’s opening event will be an advance album release from a promising new band who recently relocated to Portland. Further acts in the series will include local favorites and touring groups, plus other surprises.

About Double Dragon
Started by Rob Walls (Momofuku, Beast, et. al), Double Dragon’s bar was named to Portland’s Top 25 by Portland Monthly and has been praised by PDX Eater for its “playful but even-handed cocktails.” Portland Mercury food critic Chris Onstad  wrote, “Double Dragon’s product is that rarest of things: a second impression that exceeded the long-ago love at first sight.” Serving craft beer, classic cocktails and signature drinks alongside some of Portland’s best sandwiches, Double Dragon is also home to the much-loved Baby Ketten Karaoke on Saturday nights.

About Banana Stand
Started by Louie Herr & Aaron Colter in 2007, Banana Stand is a collective of talented audio, visual, and design professionals working in Portland to document great art, recording performances before live audiences at its secret space and releasing the results as pay-what-you-want live records and free music videos.

Shawn Skager

Shawn Skager is just an everyday joe like you, who loves music and is lucky enough to be able to write about it. When he's not enjoying long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, pina coladas and cheesy 70s music by guys named Rupert, Shawn can usually be found in the Northwest Convergence Zone radio studio doing either the Northwest Music Scene radio show or the Hooligan Honky Tonk Radio Hour. And just for the record, Shawn believes that Rush's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hank Williams Sr.'s exclusion from the Grand Ol' Opry are crimes against humanity.
