New Orleans Food & Funk Festival 2017 Announced for September 29

If you were one of the lucky people that decided to take a chance on the first New Orleans Food & Funk Festival that took place last year then you likely have been waiting, somewhat patiently to see if there would be another. Of course we knew there HAD to be after the success of the first annual event. Upstream Music Fest & Summit announced today that the festival is back for its second year and will be held on September 29 at WaMu Theater again. Keep an eye on the Facebook event page HERE for updated information or visit the event website HERE.

The full music lineup is scheduled to be announced but we can tell you from experience that it will be a first class experience and you should take advantage of the Early Bird Tickets being offered now. The only band announced so far is The Soul Rebels, who are an eight piece brass ensemble. They are riding high in 2017 after touring four continents including Europe, Australia, debuting in China and Japan, selling out shows, collaborating live with artists spanning from Nas, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Marilyn Manson, G-Eazy, Joey Bada$$, Curren$y, Talib Kweli, Trombone Shorty, Pretty Lights and Big Freedia among many others, and opening for Lauryn Hill.

So with the resume of the first band it’s pretty clear that the Upstream team is going to try and surpass last year’s epic outing. It’s going to be quite the task though, after the thrilling performances that was turned in by Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolia Mardi Gras Indian Band and  Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentlemen.
