Minus the Bear commemorate 10th anniversary of “They Make Beer Commercials Like This” EP with Seattle show on Friday, July 27

Seattle’s own Minus the Bear will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough EP “They Make Beer Commercials Like This” with a local show at the Columbia City Theater at 8 p.m. June 27.

mtb_img02_hiresThe Band had this to say on it’s website regarding the anniversary.

One day you wake up and realize you’ve been a band long enough that it’s not your first release that is a decade old, but rather your third release that is passing this milestone! That’s right friends, one of our favorite collections of MTB songs, “They Make Beer Commercials Like This” is turning ten years old this summer! In celebration, we decided to throw a party like it’s 2004 and play the EP in it’s entirety along with a smattering of other MTB classics during an exclusive two night affair in the lovely Pacific Northwest. These shows will be in Seattle at the Columbia Theater June 27; andPortland at the Doug Fir, June 29. Capacity at these venues is extremely limited so you will want to grab tickets while they last, as they are sure to sell out. It’s going to be a ton of fun so dust off your dancing shoes and don’t miss out!

Along with these shows we have a few other dates coming up for you to check out as well:

“They Make Beer Commercials Like This” 10 Year Anniversary Shows:
June 27 – Seattle, WA – Columbia City Theater – TICKETS
June 29 – Portland, OR – Doug Fir – TICKETS

In other news, our longtime comrade Ryan “Roll Tide!” Russell has released his first book of photography titled “Continental Obscura” and it is gorgeous! Filled with photos of his move from Birmingham to Bellingham, it includes a limited edition split 7″ with the unreleased MTB track “Surf-N-Turf” as well as “Sure Shot”, a track from Manchester Orchestra. Be sure to support a great guy and pick it up at ryanrussell.net.

If you aren’t satisfied with just one new 7″ in your collection, then boy do we have something to quench your thirst. The mighty Suicide Squeeze Records has teamed up with Fort George Brewery to offer the “Suicide Squeeze IPA”, and in celebration have released a compilation 7″ with artwork by the ever talented Jesse LeDoux. Limited to 1000 copies, it includes rare tracks from Modest Mouse, Black Mountain, Elliot Smith and Minus the Bear. Regardless of your taste in beverage we are sure you’ll find this offering refreshing and satisfying. Head over here to pick up your copy now.

That’s all for now. We’re busy preparing for more fun news that we’ll fill you in on in the near future, but in the meantime…pick up those tickets, order some vinyl and brush up on your dance moves. We’ll see you soon! xoxo – Cory

Shawn Skager is just an everyday joe like you, who loves music and is lucky enough to be able to write about it. When he's not enjoying long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, pina coladas and cheesy 70s music by guys named Rupert, Shawn can usually be found in the Northwest Convergence Zone radio studio doing either the Northwest Music Scene radio show or the Hooligan Honky Tonk Radio Hour. And just for the record, Shawn believes that Rush's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hank Williams Sr.'s exclusion from the Grand Ol' Opry are crimes against humanity.
