Macklemore is Popping Tags and Chart Positions

Macklemore is Popping Tags and Chart Positions….well not really popping chart positions anymore because he is number one in the nation. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are a national success.
The now platinum album,”The Heist” recently reached number one on iTunes and he’s been playing sold out shows all over the place country. To some it might seem like Macklemore is an overnight success but they’d be way off. Seattle fans have known about him for quite a while.

So now Seattle and the Northwest once again has a number 1 artist. Something Hendrix and most of our other NW favorites didn’t do.

According to Billboard “Thrift Store” is No. 1 on Streaming Songs ( which launched last week) with 1.68 million streams (up 16%), according to Nielsen BDS. It leads On-Demand Songs for a third week with 1.54 million on-demand streams (up 16%), rewriting the record for the most weekly on-demand streams dating to the inception of the list last March. (The survey includes data from subscription services Spotify, Rdio, Muve Music, Slacker, Rhapsody and Xbox Music.) “Thrift” passes the previous record-holder, Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which registered 1.41 million on-demand streams the week of May 5, 2012.

Also from Billboard:

Airplay continues to build for “Thrift,” which bounds 22-14 on Radio Songs with 58 million all-format audience impressions (up 32%), according to BDS. The track lifts 9-6 on Rhythmic, 17-16 on Alternative Songs and 23-18 on Pop Songs.
