Shamir is a source of inspiration to many, which is why he was joined by seven of the best Kenyan artists to create “Safer City” music & video. Watch the video of Safer City below.

When asked what inspired him to make “Safer City,” Shamir said,“ I wrote it in 2007 during the post election violence. There was too much violence, I saw a lot of pain and brutality, and wrote down the words in the moment.” Part of the proceeds from “Safer City” benefit One Vibe’s Music & Art Program in Kisumu, Kenya where Shamir teaches guitar, voice lessons, and music production.

On February 21st 2015 from 6pm to 9pm in the JBL Theatre at EMP Museum, One Vibe & EMP Museum Presents, Black Collaboration: a night of music, video premiers & uplifting conversations about the power of creative partnerships between Africans and African-Americans in Seattle.
