Jai Ho! Sixth Anniversary Party Coming to Portland’s Bossonova Ballroom on February 20th
Come teleport to the dream city, Mumbai, home to the alluring Bollywood film industry, at the six-year anniversary of Jai Ho! Dance Parties in Portland. Bollywood Dreams Entertainment, LLC founded by inspiring frontman Prashant (dancer, DJ, singer, Bollywood dance instructor) is celebrating the sixth year of the pursuit of his lifelong dream. That dream? To bring his passion for Indian music and dance to the people.
On Saturday, February 20, 2016, Jai Ho!, a dance party that Prashant started after quitting his full-time engineering job at Intel will complete six years of making thousands of Portlanders lose themselves in an uninhibited dance frenzy. This year’s anniversary dance will be held at the spacious Bossonova Ballroom!
This party will be featuring live violinist Raaginder “Violinder” with DJ Prashant’s signature DJ set and live singing. This is the first time this electronic acoustic fusion is coming to Jai Ho! dance party. White Heart Henna will also be providing free henna from 8-10pm. A free dance lesson at 10pm by DJ Prashant is also included in this evening’s festivities.
Jai Ho! is a monthly dance party on third Saturdays at Bossonova Ballroom featuring a new flavor every month. Over the last six years, it has consistently introduced artists straight from India as well as featured local & touring artists from around the world. Popularity of Jai Ho! has increased so much that it had to move from Lola’s Room to Bossonova Ballroom so even more people can have room to dance!
Hailing from Mumbai, India, Prashant is celebrated as one of the most exuberant and energetic Bollywood entertainers in North America having performed at various cities across the USA. His authentic and crossover Indian dance music (mainly Bollywood & Bhangra) – along with dance lessons, dance performances and LIVE singing interspersed – make Jai Ho! an experience where anyone and everyone joins the fun and dances, regardless of age, culture or nationality.
Violinder started playing violin when he was 11 years old. He’s a disciple of renowned Indian classical artist, Dr. Sisirkana Dhar Choudhury. Being exposed to different types of music, Raginder has brought it upon his violin to experiment and try playing with different genres of music such as Hip-Hop, Punjabi, Indian classical and many more. He’s such a talented musician and we are excited he will be sharing his gifts with the Jai Ho! Dance Party community. It’s his first time playing at Jai Ho! so don’t miss it!
Free henna (until 10:00P.M.), Bollywood Dance lessons and free professional nightlife photography for attendees make Jai Ho! an experience of Indian culture like none other, while its backbone is a sweaty inclusive dance party!
The doors open at 8 PM on February 20, 2016, with dance lessons starting at 10 PM. 21+ w proper ID to enter. Groups of 4 or more tickets are priced at $8, while individual advanced tickets are $10, with the day of show being $15. More information is available here.
