It’s that special time of year again. In the words of Fred Durst, “You know what time it is.” Every year, we here at NorthWest Music Scene like to cap off the year with a daily countdown where we spend each day turning you onto a new band or artist that is absolutely deserving of your time and affection. While we’ve been dabbling in the “Bands in Days” series since 2011, it was the launch of 2014’s 75 Bands in 75 Days series that this series became the real deal, and the subsequent 50 Bands in 50 Days and the month-long Northwest Music Month this past June further established the series as one beloved by both local bands and local music enthusiasts alike.

This year, we’re going above and beyond anything we’ve done before. In our introduction to Northwest Music Month, we touted the 30-day segment as a teaser for our “big showstopper” to come later in the year. Let us take this opportunity to introduce our longest and most extensive segment to date, 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union. Starting September 23rd and going until the 31st of December, check back into NorthWest Music Scene every day for a new featured write-up on a local band or artist that we would like you to know about. Also follow the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter.

Like with all previous “Bands in Days” series, all genres are welcome. One day you could tune in and hear all about a local hard rock titan that’s terrorizing the bar scene, and the next check in you could be reading about the newest electronic music heavyweight with the most alluring and enveloping synth leads. Furthermore, musicians from any part of the Pacific Northwest will be accepted.

As the presenting sponsor of 100 Bands in 100 Days, Verity Credit Union has teamed up with us to bring you more delectable local music than ever before. Verity shares our love of spotlighting worthwhile local performers, which led to the credit union putting together an ambitious series in which they tap into our creative community with an array of commercials that highlight some of the most talented musical acts that this part of the country has to offer. Six esteemed local performers, including Northwest Music Month-featured act Naomi Wachira and 50 Bands in 50 Days artist The Banner Days, have partnered with Verity to perform their own take on a commercial, and the artists expressed themselves in their respective styles that have made them beloved hometown heroes. This is just the beginning, however, as Verity intends to do plenty more partnered commercials from worthwhile local acts to follow in the future. Connect with Verity on Twitter, Facebook and their Website.

100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union will be entirely driven by submissions, so we want to hear from local bands with a passion for the art that they create. We’ll be taking submissions up until the end of November, and all bands or solo musicians are eligible. Unlike some previous years, there are no barriers to entry; no sign-ups required anywhere. Send your band’s submission to northwestmusicscene@gmail.com starting with the subject line “100 Bands in 100 Days:” followed by the name of your band. Please include any important links, including but not limited to: social media pages, website, places where we can stream/embed your music (Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc.), along with a short bio and a photo of the band, album cover, or some kind of graphic we can use in the article. Of course with the number of bands/musicians around here we can’t guarantee everyone gets a spot. Your chances of being featured will be greatly increased if you provide this information, as it will be much easier to turn our readers onto your band if you’re easily searchable/identifiable. Recorded music readily available for listening online is required.

We’ll be kicking the segment off on September 23rd, so make sure you tune in then and every day going forward to get your fix of great local music.
