For the second year in a row, the Everett Music Initiative will be producing the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival in the streets of Downtown Everett, Washington. This year’s festival takes place May 15 – 17. Last year was a breakout for the EMI as a music festival of this type had never happened in Everett.

Last year’s success of the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival was a positive step in creating a vibrant music scene north of Seattle. Never considered a viable stopover for bands on tour between Bellingham and Seattle, EMI has now built a strong audience by bringing in musicians and bands from around the region, hosting shows at The Cannery on a regular basis.

This year’s line up is even more exciting as last years. Returning, several of my favorites including Jason Webley, SISTERS, Joseph, Preacher’s Wife, Tango Alpha Tango and Fauna Shade.

Jason Webley
Jason Webley is an extraordinary storyteller and musician. Last year he performed in the EverPark breezeway, busking to an adoring audience. This year he is being back by a full band, which should enhance his already colorful songs. Last year he created a collaborative opus, telling the story on Margaret Rucker, an Everett native whose family roots are tied to the City of Everett.

Tango Alpha Tango is another band that I have now seen several times and that continue to astonish me with their musicality and performance. This band from Portland recently performed at the Treefort Music Fest and completely took the festival by storm. They are certainly one of the bands not to miss.

Everett’s own Fauna Shade is creating quite the buzz in the Northwest music scene. With their debut album 'Baton Rogue' just coming out, the sky’s the limit for this band. Don’t miss them!

The lineup for this year also has many bands that offer quite a variety, everything from indie pop rock to folksy acoustic harmonies. Some of the bands that I am excited to see are Helio Sequence, Telekinesis, Deep Sea Diver, My Goodness, Ravenna Woods, Mama Rags , Prom Queen, Pepper Proud, and The Staxx Brothers.

What is especially nice about this festival is the ability to walk around Downtown Everett and check out the local scene and eateries. If you’ve never been to Everett, it is just 30 miles north of Seattle and an easy drive. It will be well worth it. Come celebrate a weekend of new music and make new friends.
