Call For Submissions: 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union

As hard as it is to digest, the calendar on the wall doesn’t lie and here we are rolling towards fall, even if some of us are still clutching onto SUMMER like it was a strand of pearls. Nevertheless, it’s almost here again, that special time of year when we let it all hang out and feature a different band for 100 consecutive days. In case you missed it for the last half decade or so, each and every year, we here at Northwest Music Scene like to end the year with a daily segment where we spend a bunch of days in a row turning you onto a different band or artist that is absolutely deserving of your time and affection. This isn’t a countdown, just another way for us to shout-out the names of local bands or musicians that help make the northwest a special place for music. While we’ve been messing around with the “Bands in Days” series since 2011, it was the launch of 2014’s 75 Bands in 75 Days series that this party became the real deal, then 50 Bands in 50 Days in 2015, followed by 2016 and 2017 behemoth’s, 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union and 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Unionfully establishing the series as one beloved by both local bands and local music enthusiasts alike.

100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union will start again on September 23rd and run until the 31st of December, so we need you to check back into Northwest Music Scene every day for a new featured local band or artist that we would like you to know more about. Also follow the  #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter and like our Facebook page.

One day you could tune in and hear all about a local hard rock titan that’s terrorizing the bar scene, and the next day you could be reading about the newest electronic music heavyweight with the most alluring and enveloping synth leads. Throughout the year we cover all genres as long as the content is somehow relevant to the northwest and this series is no different.

As the presenting sponsor of 100 Bands in 100 Days, Verity Credit Union has teamed up with us once again to bring you more delectable local music than ever before. Verity shares our love of spotlighting worthwhile local performers, which led to the credit union putting together an ambitious series in which they tapped into our creative community with an array of commercials that highlighted some of the most talented musical acts that this part of the country has to offer. Many esteemed local performers have partnered with Verity to perform their own take on these commercials, and the artists expressed themselves in their respective styles that have made them beloved hometown heroes. The commercials are just the beginning, however, as Verity works hard out in the community and online to enrich lives through music through sponsorship of many local events including Seattle Acoustic Festival, Greenwood Crawl and many, many more. Make sure you connect with Verity on TwitterFacebook and their website to see just how much they do to help local artists thrive.

How to submit your band:

Bands or artists for 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union will be selected at random or by submission, so we want to hear from local bands or solo acts with a passion for the art that they create. We’ll be taking submissions until the end of October, and all bands or solo musicians are eligible. There are no barriers to entry; no sign-ups required anywhere.

Send your band’s submission to northwestmusicscene@gmail.com starting with the subject line “100 Bands in 100 Days:” followed by the name of your band. Please include any important links, including but not limited to: social media pages, website, places where we can stream/embed your music (Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc.), along with a short bio and a photo of the band, album cover, or some kind of graphic we can use in the article. For the graphic, 800 X 450 pixels is the size that works best for us and make sure it’s an image you have permission to use. Have a look at 2017’s 100 Bands in 100 Days – Presented By Verity Credit Union to see what kind of info we include in the features. Each year we get hundreds of submissions  so we can’t guarantee everyone gets a spot but your chances of being featured will be greatly increased if you provide the above information, as it will be much easier to turn our readers onto your band if you’re easily searchable/identifiable. Recorded music readily available for listening online is required.

We’ll be kicking the segment off on September 23rd, so make sure you check back then and every day going forward to get your fix of great local music. Let’s have some fun with this shall we?

Also a special shout out to the folks that made the documentary 100 Bands in 100 Days, although what we are doing is a bit different, and they aren’t from the northwest, anyone that goes to 100 live music events in 100 consecutive days is our hero!
