BREAKING: Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma Cancels Ted Nugent Shows

EQC-Under an immense amount of pressure from fans and patrons of Emerald Queen Casino, the tribal gambling facility has announced that the Ted Nugent shows for scheduled for August 2 and 3 have been cancelled.

Puyallup Tribe officials said the decision came after learning that Nugent has said racist remarks. The tribal council said they also received threats from community members wanting the casino to cancel his shows.

“Freedom of speech is good for everybody in the United States,” Puyallup Tribe Vice Chairman Lawrence W. LaPointe said. “But racism is intolerable on this reservation because we’ve had to put up with racism for hundreds of years – and still do to this day.”

LaPointe said the casino has been getting an average of 30 calls daily complaining about Nugent’s appearance, and that there have even been bomb threats.

The cancellation for the Tacoma shows  comes a few days after the Coeur d’Alene Tribe cancelled Nugent’s August 4 shows at its Idaho casino because of what it called the rocker’s “racist and hate-filled remarks.”

The tribe says it booked Nugent without realizing he espoused “racist attitudes and views.” The tribe did not detail which of Nugent’s specific views it opposes.

Scores of  people on Facebook and other social media sites, had called upon the Puyallup Tribe to cancel Nugent’s two shows scheduled for August 2 and 3 at the tribe’s Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma.
