Brainstorm to play Portland’s Mississippi Studios Bar Bar June 13

The Mississippi Studios Bar Bar in Portland welcomes back experimental indie pop band Brainstorm to our stage on 6/13. This will be a Friday full of excellent indie pop! SF-based group Social Studies and Portland’s Hands In open the show.

mississippi studios logoChad VanGaalen is bringing his moody & melodic electronic rock to our stage on 6/15. He’s touring in support of his fifth album Shrink Dust. Cousins and locals Big Haunt open the show.

Laura Gibson will be playing another show in our Under the Radar series on 6/16. The series is hosted at Radar Restaurant and provides an opportunity for fans to witness an intimate performance with some of their favorite esteemed local acts.

Located in Portland’s Historic Mississippi District: the acclaimed former neighborhood Baptist church turned recording studio turned music venue. The venue offers show-goers incredible acoustics and sight lines. We also smacked Bar Bar right onto the side the of Mississippi Studios back in 2010.  Bar Bar is home to one of the best burgers in town. It is a fun spot which has two large outdoor covered patios, indoor seating, and a secret garden way in back.

Bar Bar cocktail and burger lounge / patio open daily (serving lunch), seven days a week from 11:00 am until 2:00 am. Daily happy hour is 4pm – 6pm. Minors allowed until 8 pm in the restaurant/patio with parent or guardian.

ALL night shows are 21+ unless otherwise noted on our show calendar. Most shows at 9:00pm, doors/will-call at 8:00pm unless otherwise noted on our show calendar. ALL shows are general admission with a standing floor and seated balcony unless denoted as ‘partially seated or mostly seated’ on the show calendar.

Tickets are required to enter the main venue for most shows; however, the patio and Bar Bar are open to the public. The venue hosts a wide range of local, national, and international acts; covering almost every music genre. Over 500 performances occur each year with over 1500 bands, djs, and comedians performing.

Professional engineers are also available for recording projects. The venue can also be rented for private events such as corporate parties and weddings as well as for music videos, filming location, and commercial shoots.

Shawn Skager

Shawn Skager is just an everyday joe like you, who loves music and is lucky enough to be able to write about it. When he's not enjoying long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, pina coladas and cheesy 70s music by guys named Rupert, Shawn can usually be found in the Northwest Convergence Zone radio studio doing either the Northwest Music Scene radio show or the Hooligan Honky Tonk Radio Hour. And just for the record, Shawn believes that Rush's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hank Williams Sr.'s exclusion from the Grand Ol' Opry are crimes against humanity.
