The Adrian Belew Power Trio played to an enthusiastic standing room capacity audience at Seattle’s  Triple Door on  Sunday, November 9. Guitar wizard Adrian Belew along with Julie Slick on Bass Guitar and Tobias Ralph on Drums featured a variety of Belew solo compositions and King Crimson classics.

If you’re not familiar with Adrian Belew, consider this, he has recorded and toured with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, and King Crimson. He has also performed with David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, Herbie Hancock, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Paul Simon, and Nine Inch Nails to name a few.

With a career spanning 40 plus years, Adrian Belew is truly one of greatest guitarists in the world. For over 30 years Belew was the key songwriter for the progressive rock band King Crimson. Having toured around the globe, here he was performing in the intimate Triple Door in downtown Seattle.

Opening with a strong set of songs from his career, I was thrilled to hear “Big Electric Cat” from his 1982 solo album “Lone Rhino”. Performing two solid sets, the band played a strong and tight set of classic Belew songs and King Crimson standards including “Three of a Perfect Pair”, “Neurotica”, “Walking On Air”, “Elephant Talk” and “Thela Hun Ginjeet”.

Coming out soon, Belew will be releasing an ambitious new app called FLUX. FLUX is an innovative new app by that blends music and art into an interactive experience that NEVER plays the same twice. A Kickstarter campaign just completed and was fully funded.

The Adrian Belew Power Trio continues its North American tour through December. For more information on Adrian Belew, visit his webpage at: http://www.adrianbelew.net
