75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 23: Post Alley Hoodlums

HoodlumsLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that you might not have heard of that we feel are worthy of checking out. The 23th band is Seattle band called Post Alley Hoodlums.

Post Alley Hoodlums have an interesting sound blending punk-rock/psychobilly with Swing resulting in a rocking blend that has been dubbed American Noir. The Trio features Seth Javier on guitar and lead vocals, Ace Hartmann on Upright bass and backing vocals and Tom Wilkinson on drums. Seth and Ace started playing together in 2013 and the band formed.

The first of the American Noir Hardboiled writers were Dashiell Hammett James M. Cain and Raymond Chandler. They wrote in a style that split the difference, often featuring heroic gangsters as leads. American Noir has been in Books and Film as early as the 1930s, Post Alley Hoodlums are taking those inspirations adding Punk Rock, Swing, Psychobilly, Rhythm and Blues while keeping the 1930s and 1940s the foundation into a perfect blended cocktail. Taking their life experiences and personal stories and putting them to tunes. Post Alley Hoodlums plan to release their debut E.P. early 2015.

They have a show coming up at the Central on November 15 and you can find info about that HERE.
