50 Bands in 50 Days – Day 2: Strangely Alright

50-50 FEATURED

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the second day of 50 Bands in 50 Days, our yearly showcase of the best talent coming out of the Pacific Northwest, brought to you by GigTown! Today our journey takes into the realm of power pop, with one of the genre’s more potent acts in recent memory, Tacoma’s Strangely Alright.

One of the most unashamedly sugar-coated pop-rock bands to come from Puget Sound, Strangely Alright (fka Oddly Enough) has captured the hearts of local music fans with their fun, lighthearted approach to music. Strong, passionate vocals from studly lead singer/guitarist Regan Lane are backed up by great lead guitar playing brought by Sean Van Dommelen (of SleepyPilot fame), and nice, sturdy drumming from Jason Bair. Toss in a rock solid bassist named  Ken Schaff and dreamy keyboard playing by Raymond Hayden and you have a winning combination.

Both as Oddly Enough and Strangely Alright, the eclectic Tacoma quintet has been around the block quite a few times, playing the likes of Art on the Ave, National Night Out, Jazzbones, and sharing the stage with fellow local bands like The Moss Brothers and The Fame Riot. The band was also featured on Click 98.9’s “Homegrown” segment a handful of months ago, which also makes it a point to spotlight the best that the local scene has to offer.

If you like your rock music easy-going, but full of life and character, Strangely Alright is definitely for you.
